What feels like millions of years ago (but according to my tax records was a year ago) I worked for the V&A. Whilst I was there I designed this fella, and it was kindly thought of by the chaps at We made this. Thanks for the mention, Alistair. Our name by the way, doesn’t cast aspersions on you guys, we actually wanted to be called Made Better but the domain had already been taken. So there you go, design, museums, the scarcity of domains and lithography all in the same post.

Lots more on the V&A years at a later date.

Had a bit of tidy up this weekend and found some old, old illustration files. I can’t remember what these were even for but I suspect they may have been from University days, or maybe just after. I really enjoyed finding these, they really made me cringe, and I’m certainly not posting them here (maybe just this one). Interesting to see how work evolves over time. I guess looking back it shows I really don’t have an obvious visual style, projects do tend to be visually specific to the task. A lot of design companies have a very distinct visual style, take a look at Airside or The Designer’s Republic for instance, very strong chops there, amazing work and so obviously them. I always assumed I’d develop a style as I grew into my new career but it doesn’t seem to have happened.

I’m quite glad really, I like the varying approaches we have, I like doing something different every day.

Principal High Buildings

Idly researching a project the other day I found this via Yousayto. What a gem, I could look at this for hours. We’re working on a concept similar to Where’s Wally at the moment and this ties in beautifully. I love the depth of the image, you could root around for hours delving into the space. In an age where it’s evermore important to get your message across in less than 5 seconds it’s great to see this. It’s engaging AND entertaining. I want to spend time exploring it. I’ll make time to explore it.

Wish I could tell you more about the image. No idea who it’s by or where it’s from. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
